The most common injection sites are the glutes (buttocks), thighs, and shoulders. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) involves injecting testosterone into the body to raise low testosterone levels. If the needle doesn’t reach muscle during an IM injection, testosterone may be deposited in fat tissue, causing irritation and reduced absorption. Some men prefer auto-injectors, which use preloaded syringes to simplify the injection process. Proper disposal of needles is essential for safety. The technique used during injection plays an important role in how well the testosterone is absorbed. Any website, "online pharmacy," or "testosterone clinic" that will allow you to buy testosterone injections without following the above guidelines should be avoided. Testosterone therapy is available in other forms; however, most prescribers agree that injections are the safest and most effective way to deliver TRT to their patients. This includes using a new, sterile needle and syringe for each injection, disposing of them properly after use, and rotating injection sites to prevent tissue damage. What to avoid while taking testosterone injections? Can you use insulin needles for testosterone injection? Below are common injection sites and typical needle recommendations. At Voy, we use 29G or 27G needles for injecting testosterone, as these are smaller needles which tend to be more comfortable. The best needle size for glute injection is usually 25G or 27G, with a length of 1 inch or more (depending on your size). Choosing the correct testosterone needle size is about balancing comfort, safety, and effective delivery. Although oil is thick, a 25 gauge needle is commonly used for injections. For gluteal injections, a 1.5-inch needle may be required to ensure the medication reaches the muscle. The best needle size for shoulder testosterone injections is 29G or 27G, 0.5 to 1 inch. The best needle size for quad/thigh testosterone injections is 25G or 27G, with a length of 1 inch or more. Below, we detail the best practices for storing syringes and needles used for testosterone therapy. Proper storage of syringes and needles is essential for anyone undergoing testosterone therapy. The higher the gauge number, the smaller the diameter and the thinner the needle. A balance between comfort and ease of use is often found with a 23 or 25 gauge needle. The gauge of the needle can be chosen based on personal comfort. A 1-inch needle may be sufficient for the thigh or for individuals with less body fat. First, it's important to differentiate between the syringe and the needle. The syringe is the plastic body that holds the medication, while the needle is the thin, metal part that penetrates the skin. Let's face it, guys -- TRT is for life, and all those injections add up! Shorter-acting esters often require two or three weekly injections to smooth out hormone fluctuations. Your TRT injection schedule depends largely on the testosterone ester (e.g., testosterone undecanoate, cypionate, enanthate, propionate) you’ve been prescribed. Powerful hormones such as testosterone injections have been created to treat legitimate medical conditions; they should not be used lightly or without proper medical supervision. If your tests do indicate that you have low testosterone and can benefit from testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), you will be given a prescription for testosterone injections. Knowing what size needle for testosterone cypionate injections you should use is essential to the correct administration of your injections. Still, it is very common to use an 18-gauge needle to draw up the testosterone and then replace that with a finer 25-gauge needle (about 1″ in length) to perform the actual injection. Needle sizes for injections are measured by "gauge," which is a measure of the needle’s diameter or thickness. While not as widely used as traditional syringes, they may improve adherence and reduce anxiety for those new to injections. Ensuring that these medical supplies are stored in the correct manner can help maintain their effectiveness and safety, protecting both the user and the integrity of the medication. One of the first steps in the injection process is selecting the appropriate syringe and needle. The needle size is just as important as the syringe itself. Our medical team has created a simple, safe, and legal process for you to get injectable testosterone. By following these guidelines, patients can safely and effectively administer their injections, ensuring optimal outcomes and minimizing the risk of complications. It is essential to rotate injection sites to prevent tissue damage or injection site reactions and to ensure consistent absorption of the medication.
